Surrealist painter/writer Leonora Carrington tells a very different tale of living in a spanish old-folks home. Her heroine Marion and her best friend Camilla, both over 90 years of age, are not the only eccentric ladies in this social commentary which contorts into a surrealist fantasy tale.A stranger tale than I was expecting I wholeheartedly recommend this truly wonderful book. Written in the most beautiful prose The Hearing Trumpet is not only heartwarming but also absolutely hilarious.
